Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We use a deliberately small set — no advertising trackers, no cross-site profiling, no selling of behavioral data. We do not embed third-party marketing pixels. Our analytics is Google Analytics 4 with its advertising features switched off: first-party measurement cookies that answer questions like "which pages get read?" and "which tools get used?" — never to target you with ads.

Analytics cookies here are opt-in. On your first visit a small banner asks whether you're happy with analytics — and until you accept, nothing analytics-related is stored: GA4 runs in Google's cookieless Consent Mode, so the visit still counts in aggregate but no _ga cookie is written. Rejecting is exactly as easy as accepting, and the essential cookies and your theme preference keep working either way.

Required for the site to function — security, load balancing, session integrity, and a Cloudflare bot-prevention check (Turnstile) that guards the contact form against spam.

Analytics cookies

Up to 2 years

Google Analytics 4 — measures page visits, referrers, and free-tool usage so we know which content is useful. Sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) that distinguish your browser from others. Advertising features are switched off; no cross-site tracking.

Preference cookies

Up to 12 months

Remember choices such as theme (light/dark) so the site behaves the way you left it.

The consent banner — changing your choice

Your answer to the banner is remembered in your own browser (localStorage), not in a cookie, and it is only ever a plain granted or denied — nothing else. To change it later, use the Cookie settings link in the footer of any page: it clears your stored choice and shows the banner again, so you can switch analytics on or off in one click. Clearing your browser's site data for this domain resets the choice the same way.

Controlling cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. Blocking essential cookies may prevent parts of the site from working; blocking analytics or preference cookies only affects our measurement and your saved preferences.

Most browsers also offer a private or incognito mode that starts with a clean cookie jar each session. If you want to verify what we set, your browser's developer tools show every cookie with its name, value, and expiry — there should be nothing there that surprises you.
